Flowers: Purple lightly scented flowers, up to 0.8 inches long (2 cm.), in late spring to early summer

Watering Needs: Moderate water to regular water

The name alternifolia refers to the alternate leaves, unique in the genus.

Culture:
Prune after it finished blooming, since the wood produced later will bear the next year flowers.
