Growth Habits: Shrubby columnar cactus, up to 7 feet tall (2 m), pale green stems up to 4 inches in diameter (10 cm); about 27 ribs; yellowish white areoles; 25 spines, 0.2 to 0.6 inch long (5-15 mm)

Blooming Habits:
The Espostoa guentheri has a brownish lateral cephalium, with reddish-brown bristles and hairs, up to 2.5 inch thick (6.2 cm). The yellowish flowers come in early summer and measure 1.2 inches in diameter (3 cm).
