Origin: Mexico (Nuevo León: near Aramberri)

Growth Habits: Solitary globose cactus, greyish with a thick wax layer, up to 2 inches in diameter (5 cm) or more, partly underground with tuberous root; apex with white felt; tubercles 0.16 to 4 inch tall (4 to 10 mm); juvenile plants have 6 to 13 pectinate spines, 0.1 inch long (2.5 mm); mature plants have 4 to 7 needle-like grey spines, some short ones pointing down, some longer pointing up, up to 0.8 inch long (2 cm)


Blooming Habits:
White flowers, up to 1 inch long (2.5 cm), often with reddish midstripe. The fruit is greenish, 0.2 to 0.3 inch long (5-7 mm), 0.15 inch in diameter (4 mm).
