Knowlton's Cactus


Scientific Name: Pediocactus knowltonii L.D.Benson
Synonym: Pediocactus bradyi var. knowltonii , Pediocactus simpsonii var. knowltonii
Family: Cactaceae

Origin: Known in only one location: USA (New Mexico: Los Piños River)

Growth Habits: Solitary or clustered, 1.5 inches tall (3.8 cm) or more, partly underground, 1 inch in diameter (2.5 cm); tubercles 1.5 to 2.5 mm long; no central spine; 18 to 24 radials, somewhat pectinate.


Blooming Habits:
Pink flowers, 0.4 to 1.4 inches long (1-3.5 cm), 0.4 to 1 inch in diameter (1-2.5 cm), followed by green to tan fruit.
