The large turnip shaped caudex is normally buried when the plant is in the wild. It is sometimes exposed when in cultivation. It should then be kept in the shade. This species is not as deciduous than most Pachypodiums, and will generally not lose all its leaves in winter.
Blooming Habits:
The Pachypodium succulentum has pinkish white flowers, 1.25 inches wide (3 cm), with a darker midstripe.
