The Matelea cyclophylla is cultivated mostly for its corky caudex. The name of this plant is in doubt, in the absence of a good publication about the genus. Gonolobus cyclophyllus is also a very acceptable name.

Blooming Habits:
The flowers are 1 inch in diameter (2.5 cm) brown and, as many other asclepiads that use flies as pollinators, smelling like carrion. They come in summer. If they are pollinated they produced a seed pod.
