Over sixty species of Huernias are found in Eastern Africa. This species was first collected on cliffs close to the Bole river in Ethiopia, hence the name.

Blooming Habits:
The Huernias produce flowers freely in summer. Contrarily to the related genera, the flowers often have no smell.
