My tree was about 5 years old when it first bloomed in Yuma.
My new tree {I moved to another home} was 4 years old when we had a freak freeze two winters ago and it froze down to about 3 feet. When it started leafing out again in the late spring of that year, it grew like crazy, bout 5 feet from the resurgent new leaves. I don't see any buds for this year but it may be because of the freeze. I did fertilize the old one but I have never fertilized this one. I think fertilizing makes them bloom at least a couple of years early. It's really fine with me just to enjoy the beautiful green foliage.
