Cat claw is a beautiful vine but it will tear up your wall or anything else it grows on in time. BEWARE...
Here are some other desert - xeriscape vines that do well.

Primrose Jasmine
Bougainvillea
White lady banks rose
Pink Trumpet Vine (my favorite)
