This Portulaca is sometimes sold under the incorrect name of Portulaca oleracea, or common purslane. P. umbraticola is easily distinguished by the prominent margin on the fruit capsule.

Cultural Practices:
Plant 12 inches apart (30 cm). Fertilize once a month.

Blooming Habits:
The Portulaca umbraticola has large 2 inches flowers (5 cm) from spring to fall. The flowers are open only part of the day.
