Growth Habits: Evergreen tree or large shrub, 30 to 80 feet tall (9-24 m); elliptic to oblong leaves, 2 to 4 inches long (5-10 cm), with pubescent underside

Watering Needs: Limited water

Propagation: Seeds, cuttings

Salt tolerant, a good beach tree.

Blooming Habits:
Big clusters of dark scarlet flowers in racemes at the end of the branches, at the beginning of the summer (December in New Zealand). A yellow form is sometimes available.
