Heat Tolerance: Not adapted to the hot deserts

Sun Exposure: Light shade

Origin: Southeastern USA (Virginia to Georgia)

Growth Habits: Compact deciduous shrub, 1.5 to 3 feet tall (45-90 cm), 2 to 4 feet spread (60-120 cm); dark green leaves up to 2.5 inches long (6 cm)

Watering Needs: Moderate water, good drainage

Propagation: Seeds, cuttings, layering, root suckers

Prefers moist, acidic, organically rich soils. Eliminate root suckers promptly.
