Leaf: Pinnate, 140 regularly arranged stiff leaflets. coarse spiny material along the edges.
Trunk: 16 inches in diameter (40 cm).
Flower: Large, woody spathe with shallow groves.. Flower stalk coming from among the leave, 100 or more flowering branches.
Fruit: Up to 1.6 inches long (4 cm).
Seed:

Similar in appearance and requirements to Butia capitata.
